What ATF proposed
The proposal would change domestic transportation procedures for certain registered NFA firearms. For some short-term domestic transport, ATF proposes eliminating the requirement to submit notice and await approval; for longer-term transport or permanent relocation, the proposal would modify when transport may begin after notice.
Current status
The comment period closed August 6, 2026. These contemplated changes are not yet a substitute for the current interstate-transport requirements. Check the current rule and ATF form/instructions before moving a covered firearm.
