Primary Authority Controls
Federal statutes, regulations, official forms and instructions, published agency actions, binding judicial decisions, and other applicable legal authority control over any FFL Connect summary. Source links are provided whenever practicable so members can verify important requirements.
Proposals Are Not Current Requirements
FFL Connect may report on proposed rules, pending comment periods, litigation, announced policy changes, withdrawn rules, or other developing matters. A proposed rule is not a final rule merely because it appears in the Regulatory Updates section. Update posts are labeled by status to help distinguish proposals, effective rules, guidance, form changes, withdrawals, and rescinded material.
Federal Focus; State and Local Law Still Matters
Much of FFL Connect focuses on federal firearms compliance. State, territorial, tribal, and local requirements can be more restrictive or impose separate licensing, waiting-period, transfer, storage, reporting, tax, consumer-protection, privacy, zoning, employment, and other obligations. A federal-law answer should not be assumed to resolve those separate requirements.
Facts Matter
Small factual differences can change a compliance analysis. Do not rely on a general article when a transaction, inspection, classification, license action, subpoena, investigation, threatened enforcement action, criminal exposure, civil litigation, or other high-risk matter turns on particular facts.
AI Limitations
The AI assistant can misunderstand prompts, retrieve the wrong source, omit a qualification, or generate inaccurate text. Verify important AI answers against the cited FFL Connect material and primary authority. When the result is uncertain, consult qualified counsel or appropriate official guidance.
Direct Compliance Line Limitations
Dealer Team members may send private questions through the Direct Compliance Line for an FFL Connect response. A response is educational compliance information based on the facts provided and does not create an attorney-client relationship, bind a government agency, or replace primary authority or qualified legal counsel.
Community Content Is Peer Discussion
Member-community posts and replies are written by individual users unless clearly identified otherwise. They are not reviewed or adopted as official FFL Connect guidance merely because they appear on the platform.

FFL Connect is not affiliated with or endorsed by ATF, DOJ, FBI, NICS, the United States Government, or any state or local government agency.
